    I am gobsmacked ...... and then to ask 300 clams for what is now a stuffed shell - what were / are they thinking???

    Thanks Kris! ( for those who cant see it, ALL the holes - all 5 of them - have been welded up ...... some people really ARE a few bricks short of a load )

    The wearer must have been attacked by the elite Acetylene Brigade, so secret no one knew they existed. Their job was to melt the rivets of the opposing armys helmet suspensions rendering them unusable by the foe. Maybe they were really using it as a coal scuttle? or a bowl?

    Never seen this done before, welding up the vent holes and the liner attachment holes, what were they thinking, battle damage????

    Look at the heat affected zones - would have been a nice cammo originally ( hence my GRRRRRRR!!!!!! )

    That is not so uncomoun!!
    Lid's like that could be found quiet often in the 70 ties comming from farmers who used them for all kind of job's , mostly to hold liquids.
    Most of the time a handle was also weld to it.
