It's strange that the bird decal is rust red and the tri color is more uniformity white. More pics in better lighting would be helpful in coming to a determination.

I will try to take some more pics, but I don´t think it is overpainted, inside the helmet there is virtually no paint left !, It does however have some kind of finish, maybe oil, I am not sure :-)
After a closer look, I think it is oiled, but definetely not overpainted !! there is no signs of paint in any of the rustpittings, not utside nor inside !

Lidt flere billeder vil hjælpe gevaldigt på det Where did you buy the helmet?

I bought it in germany from a private seller.
I will try to take some more pics shortly.
It has some smaller arears with grey paint and also remains of a darker grey sandlike paint.
The arear close to the shield is one of these spots.

Try in daylight conditions if possible.

I just had a conversation with the guy I bought the helmet from !
He had the helmet from an old lady, who found it in the stable after the war.
It has been used for corn for the chickens ever since !
It was found in Müncheberg, between Berlin and Seelow.

Are you selling the helmet?
Regards, Lars
No, I am quite happy for it :-)

Hi ,
I have TRIED to take a couple more photos, but I don´t know if they are any better ! It is very hard to avoid the "glare" even in daylight conditions. But as I said before there are no paint in the stamps and rust craters, and it looks like that maybe some kind of steel brush has been used to remove rust !
MFG

Maybe the wire brush has caused the scratchs on the national decal as to me, it looks like the decal has been aged with sandpaper.
