Relic German Helmet

Article about: Hello everyone, I found this relic condition German helmet at a yard sale and would like to know your opinion on it. Do you think it is an original? If so which model is it? Many thanks.

From that close up of the national shield I would say that it is not original. Not only that but the helmet has been over painted some time ago in thick paint, and the damp/ rust has come through again.

I'm leaning towards an M35 as well so the DD would be OK potentially. I can't however tell much about the national shield. That thick coat of paint is different for sure. Maybe a single color camo overpaint? Relics are so hard to judge as they are easy to fake IMHO.
