    Oxalic acid can make items green if it is not neutralised immediately after the bath. Welcome to the forum mate.

    I use lemon acid. Same effect but less toxic.

    Hi, just clean it gently with a brush and keep in a dry place.
    That should slow down the rusting process.

    arrived today well chuffed really solid rust isnt loose, the green is darker, wish i knew its story.

    I really dont know what to make of the finish, I think it might have been repainted and stripped several times post war. However, you cant go wrong for £20 and I hope it fuels your interest, so congratulations!

    Cheers it does feel smooth and under x10 magnification there are a few layers of paint , just hope its genuine .

    Yeah, looking for a second now, if anyone as anything to move on, condition isnt important just genuine im in the UK, and got around £40 plus shipping , if you dont ask?

    If it were me i'd be hooking into the oxalic acid treatment, theres a few threads in the conservation forum to give you guidance.
