Two German Ardenne offensive helmet shells

Article about: Hey guys, offer for 85 euros including shipping was accepted on this lot of helmets and a gasmask cannister. All are supposedly from the Ardennes. I'm a bit shaky about that chickenwire helm

    Gimmie,

That being said (fake wire), I'm not sure what relic lids go for in your area, but don't think it is a total rip off. Two shells and what appears to be a decent canister

True, but I'll probably leave the items seeing as the chickenwire is what had sealed the deal.

Wire is new in any case. Rubbish...

70+ years of relic wire and helmet should exhibit a corrosive reaction (i.e. rusting together) of the 2 components.

    Thanks Ade!!!

So while the photos are not so clear and looking at this from a poor rez tablet, from what I can see it is American wire as Terry notes. Learned something today.

That's a good tip there how long will it be before we see that being faked

I think it safe to say the fakers are working on it already. One of the snags is how to 'age' rust to avoid the telltale red of fresh rust.
