Well I'll defer to Terry's knowledge on the FJ's condition.
Sorry to give you a bum steer Paul.......

Real helmets. I would like to see the paintwork in hand, but they stand a fair chance.

Hi all, appreciate all the feedback. My friend has decided to pass on these after some mixed feedback from various sources. I don't suppose they are the easiest thing to collect, and even the smallest of doubts can have an effect on the nerves....

There will come a time ( if not already ) when ALL cammo helmets will require one to have the faith of the ancients!!!

Couldn't agree more. I haven't seen so many camo helmet for sale before. They are all over the place now. I have my few "good" examples...so unless I can find a true one looker DAK (the one I am missing), I'm staying away.

You should tell your friend to reconsider and pick up the second one. I'm not solid on the paint of the 1st, but the 2nd one is a beauty! Not an easy lid to find these days in Any condition, and This one is top shelf!

In the 70s and 80s camo German helmets were few and far between. Unless I get one from a vet or a vets estate I get very nervous about them.
Terry is the man on M38s so I wouldn't hesitate to go for the 2nd one.

Maybe some day forensic science will advance to a point where paint can be accurately dated or chemically broken down as to origin , i'm sure component parts have changed over time . Just a thought .
