I think the whole thing is an artificially aged fake.

I've been looking at this thing for a while. Doesn't make sense that a near relic shell would have a complete liner and strap in that good of condition. It appears the liner has been soaked in some kind of liquid agent, hence the cracking/veining. Ask if you can see photos of the helmet in natural light. These won't do..

I agree with Ade, bad from the ground up. A straight on shot toward the front of the helmet should kill it, the fake shells on the whole don't replicate the dip in the brow.

yeah, they know how to fake these days...
I must agree, its been pretty well faked, but just a bit too much, everything looks uniformly done, all the rust ,the condition of the liner, straps, but to a point where there is no real wear and tear, the leather is'nt worn enough, it has an even coat of rust all over etc
