Thank you very much, Ade! A friend has it and asked me, I really like the paint and the age of it, but these helmets are a minefield, can not tell myself

I agree, looks like a very nice original M38 shell.

This one I believe is a little rare. With that lot number it should have a decal, but I see no trace of one on the shell and it does not look like one was removed. So I think this may be a factory or depot reissue with no decal. You see plenty of M35's and M40's that were done like that but seldom see an M38 reissue for some reason. Quite nice!
