I like the shell, liner, and camo. Where are the straps though? Cut? Removed? Jim G.
No idea on the straps, havent got that info yet.
I saw this on eBay the other day. Looks decent. But so hard to tell with these fj helmets sometimes. I don't know something about the paint job concerns me..
I like the shell,im not too sure about the paint and parts of the liner, the holes where the bolts are accessible have been enlarged and one of them appears to have cut lines which look a lot newer than the rest of the liner, i would expect to see the same grime and discolouration in the cuts, the straps have obviously been removed at some time, so im wondering if the whole liner has been taken out and the holes enlarged, what is the condition of the rubber padding , hard ,soft, to be honest the pads look like modern ones but it may be the photos, are you able to see it in hand and more importantly are you happy with it, im curious as to how much is being asked for it , if totally authentic it would command a fairly high price
Ah good point, I had not noticed the enlarged holes in the liner! There is no way I will get this inhand to check, tis the reason its here. Yep its on fleabay, and I have bought from him before, which was a nice solid helmet, the only thing with it was it had been cleaned. Didint detract from the lid though (was semi relic), but it gives me enough confidence in him to consider this one . Paint, well I like the shade of colour and how it looks and the pads, well they could go either way.
At the moment price is good but that can change in a heartbeat. I am happy with the lid, but I wont pay top dollar for it. I though to post it here because it would happier if it gets a good review.
I don't think that liner is from this shell, that's my gut feeling and could be wrong. No oxidization or marriage of the liner to the shell. The camo almost looks like something Ruffin (Rex) makes for re-enactors. Something about this just isn't sitting write and screams messed with.
I would post it on GHW and ask Terry (M38) and SMP, Larry Foley, all the FJ specialists.
No probs doug will do, thanks for the feedback. Was going to send you some pic of an SS I was offered the other day as well, but Dave shirlin might have already shown you. I was on the fence about it but got the thumbs down from dave.
Was it a super minty Q DD?
Thats the one, was to good to be true, but I checked because I have had good lids from him before
