    Once again David you have excelled! What a great looking helmet, that shows true battle use, we can only imagine what stories a lid like this could tell. A fantastic example and I am happy for you that a change of heart occurred keeping it in your superb collection. Thanks for showing it to us. Leon.

    Story from the Vet...the Krauts jumped them at night D+3...he took this as his war trophy. Kept it until 1981 & sold it to a collector at his yard sale. Was finally re-sold to me about 3 years ago.
    I know, I know...don't buy the story, buy the helmet. But pretty cool thinking it may be true anyway

    If the helmet is original I go with the story anyway...LoL...Doesn't hurt, Doesn't add value but makes it so much more interesting!

    Great helmet and a rare bird in that clean condition, thanks for sharing.
