that seems right, because i never saw any pictures with Para helmets with SS on them. Never saw SS decals in the pictures.

Regardless if anny SS decal helmets were actually produced, this decal is bad. It's a round bottom fake. A more convincing SS decal would have made this thread much more interesting.

I have to agree FAKE decal, after being burned on my "SS double decal Camo" helmet.. They look the same to me..
Sorry...Dont get burned like I did..
With my limited experiance on Para lids in mind i have never seen one with SS runes.I would guess they wore plain Helmets with possibly covers or cammo over the top but no decal.I don't like the hand engraved number on this one either and the shape is bad

Like so many has said, The decal is fake, but we as all know the SS were die hard, and i see no reason why any member would not have put an SS decal on his helmet, as they were the best well equipped unit during the TR period.
There are pics of SS members wearing these non-decal helmets, we were not there, and who is to say, as everything was not photographed.
While i was in Iraq, there was plenty of gear that we wanted or needed, and we did purchase some gear, and had some sent to us from the states while we was in Iraq, and I'm sure the SS were no different...

Brian, the 500/600 SS FJ Btns were special units and no photographic evidence exists of them wearing an SS decal. The extensive history of these battalions is published in Forgotten Legions, Obscure Combat Formations of the Waffen SS by Munoz with many photos.
You also have to look at when these SS FJ Btns were formed, in late 43 and deployed in 44. The helmets were not being decalled by this time as there were standing orders not to decal the helmets. Many of the men who were sent or volunteered to the FJ Btns were there on court-martial for disobeying orders. They were not likely to do the smallest transgression and disobey an order as the next unit was a Penal Battalion with a life expectancy of about 6 minutes once in combat.
As for the logic of the decal, first ET decals were never issued en masse to soldiers. It was CA Pochers, and those were relatively discontinued by 1943. As well it is documented that the SS FJ Btns recieved LW stocks and camouflage ergo the helmets may have arrived as no decal or LW helmets that had the decals removed.
So "could" one exist, perhaps but I would consider the chances of a real one out there as minute as finding Adolf Hitlers porn stash. :-)
That is a valuable porn stash. I heard Eva Braun was a natural brunette?? :-)
