This helmet was found last year on a Battlefield where the Finnish were fighting it was found inside a Finnish bunker , has anyone seen these decals before , they look to be hand painted , maybe a Finnish unit ?

Great find , a bird on skies maybe ?
Yes does look like a bird on ski's,look at alot of Finnish web sites but can't find anything like this on them
I spent half an hour searching as well. No luck..
It's obviously a hand painted symbol-no doubt referring to the Finnish Ski troops and perhaps even mingling the German Eagle in with it as well. Finnish helmets can be a real nightmare to collect and research, due to the large number of hand embellished pieces that were used. Oxalic acid is great for removing rust from helmets. 5 minute treatment and that's it, wont affect paint unless its water based. Would recommend for first helmet.
Pity that last one has been sand papered, amateur work.
