Not a typical Shin Gunto I have owned or seen it may be some late war variant or Chinese made version I am no gunto expert some of them will hopefully let us know. timothy
I dont like it. Dosnt Look japanese made.
Can you please let me know what does not look Japanese?
thanks
I agree with Gunto.
It is my opinion that it is a Chinese made fake.
For starters .... the retaining peg in the handle is misplaced .... you'll NEVER find it in that location; also, the habaki-notch is on the cutting side, not the "back" side. There is no way a Japanese sword-furniture maker would produce this habaki -- it is physically impossible to accidentally assemble it upside down since the opening in the habaki must match the geometry of the blade.

I agree with all of the comments that have been made. If late war, it is 60+ years late war. If you bought this, take it back for a refund as it is not it was represented to be.
