    I like that piece too. Type 98 mounts and combat cover. FYI ... that tassel is for a Company Grade officer, not necessarily of Captain rank.

    IMO, I think Mantetsu swords such as yours are highly sought after, and the condition, at least from the pics., shows it is in nice condition. I sold a Mantetsu for $2,000 that was in slightly worse shape than yours 3 years back and regret that I did. If you are wanting to move it along, I would put a healthy reserve on it at auction and see where the market takes it. Nice sword!
