Need better photos. I do not like the Habaki a ww2 japanese sword did not have anything on it. The saya looks promising but again we need better photos. Marty

If you at this moment held my feet to a fire I would say fake, because if one part is fake there is a high probability that the whole thing is fake. Marty

I agree that it is a fake based on the engraved habaki. This is attempting to be an officer's sword, not a NCO. The NCO has a metal handle and a plain painted scabbard.

The scabbard looks good, sword *****. I would question a really clean scabbard with a worn sword, especially as has been said many times, it's blind luck to fit a blade to to a stray scabbard. That alone is a red flag. I think the angles and lack of direct detail in the photos is another flag.
