It appears to ge a Russo-Japanese war era sword. As it has a removable pin, it possibly contains an older hand made blade. Better pictures will tell us more. I have seen these with combat size blades and also with lighter parade size blades.

Not what I was expecting but still a cool sword, it looks like a officers Kyu Gunto.
