    It is a civilian helmet model, so it must be a company badge of some sort and the kanji may likely stand for a manager, but either way it is an abbreviation, so no way to be sure.

    The kanji is nushi/shu/omo/oruji -- I don't know how it is used here ....

    主 【ぬし】[nushi] (n) (1) head (of a household, etc.); leader; master; (2) owner; proprietor; proprietress; (3) subject (of a rumour, etc.); doer (of a deed); (4) guardian spirit (e.g. long-resident beast, usu. with mystical powers); long-time resident (or employee, etc.); (5) husband;

    主; 主人 【あるじ】 [oruji] (n) (1) (abbr) head (of a household); proprietor (of a store); proprietress; landlord; landlady; master (of a servant)

    Perhaps a few possibilities?

    1. "Long-time Resident #25"????
    2. "Proprietor #25"
    3. Part of a store/company name????
    4. Other than the above.

    Thanks for the information. This is not something I normally collect. Would this helmet be worn by non-military personnel like a factory guard or air raid warden ?
