IJA Colonel Signed Hinomaru Flag

Hi All,

Would like to share my IJA Colonel signed Hinomaru Flag.

This flag was signed by Col. Yoshiyuki Ashiba 足羽善行 (1889~1951), Chief of Ordnance Section, 12th Area Army. Ashiba' s final rank was Major-General.

Biography of Major-General Yoshiyuki Asuwa - (

The recipient was Tsutomu Ono 小野 勉.

This flag was probably written between 1939 August 1st ~ 1945 June 10th. He became Major-General on June 10th of 1945.

Flag translations (From right to left):

小野 勉君ノ武運長久ヲ祈ル (Ono Tsutomu-Kun No Buun Choukyuu Wo Inoru) - Praying for Tsutomu Ono' s continued luck in the fortunes of war.

陸軍大佐　足羽善行 (Rikkugun Taisa Asiba Yoshiyuki) - Army Colonel Yoshiyuki Asiba.
