IJA helmet

Article about: Not my area this --- except for the fact that I'm pretty well certain it's an all good period example of the IJA helmet and that it will be in my collection soon I pretty much draw a blank.

Not my area this --- except for the fact that I'm pretty well certain it's an all good period example of the IJA helmet and that it will be in my collection soon I pretty much draw a blank. I just really like the condition and all the Japanese markings inside, I'm guessing there's a name in there but other than that I do not have a clue what it all means --- open to any info you all can provide

Looks good to me! These lids are getting quite expensive. Glad I got mine a number of years ago.......

Yeah, there's a few "ominous" signs, such as the darkening of the leather and other shriveled darkened cloth/leather parts --- I guess we will never know.

Thank you very much for the translation! I guess the other characters are too worn to make out? Either way, it's nice to have some info on the original owner --- is that a surname btw?

Yes, a common surname meaning "East".

    Ahhh --- thanks again!

Interested in any and all info that can be derived from the images, would I be correct in labeling this a type 90? Also, another thing I have not figured out yet is the purpose of the two small holes in the shell... I'm guessing it would have been for fixing something to the shell... but what?

Yes. A type 90. And as for the small holes I think they are just vents. I've never seen anything attached before. But pretty small if they were vents
