Can't tell you what's on there, but I think it
looks great Charlie......... !
Regards,
Steve.
Great flag! Looks like a coiled dragon
To properly view the painting, the flag needs to be turned counter-clockwise so the painting is at the 6 o'clock position. The calligraphy beneath it is beautiful and I can only make out the first kanji (on right) as 龍 -- dragon.
And note -- per Chinese [ergo, Japanese] convention, the dragon has the "Dragon Ball" (actually, the "Pearl of Wisdom") in it's right foreclaw.

Unusual example and very nice Charlie
REGARDS AL
We are the Pilgrims , master, we shall go
Always a little further : it may be
Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow
Across that angry or that glimmering sea...
It should be viewed from this angle
The first two kanji below the painting looks something like:
龍得...
Ryū Toku ...
Dragon Attainment ....
There is a Ryūtoku-ji [Dragon Attainment Temple], but doubt there is a connection. And I'll leave it at that, because at this point, it's all conjecture for me.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I had to get this one when I saw it, but still wanted to make sure before hand. Its going to look great once I get it framed.
Charlie
