I have the opportunity to buy this illustrated signed Japanese flag. I have not seen many of this type. Looking to see if it is signed by a native hand or if anything looks out of order. Any thoughts or comments would be helpful.

Yes, a dragon with a bolt of lightening flashing through it. I'm pretty certain it's called:

    雷電龍
    Raiden ryū
    Thunder & Lightning Dragon

    Not unlike:

To properly view the painting, the flag needs to be turned counter-clockwise so the painting is at the 6 o'clock position. The calligraphy beneath it is beautiful and I can only make out the first kanji (on right) as -- dragon.

And note -- per Chinese [ergo, Japanese] convention, the dragon has the "Dragon Ball" (actually, the "Pearl of Wisdom") in it's right foreclaw.

The first two kanji below the painting looks something like:

    龍得...
    Ryū Toku ...
    Dragon Attainment ....

There is a Ryūtoku-ji [Dragon Attainment Temple], but doubt there is a connection. And I'll leave it at that, because at this point, it's all conjecture for me.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I had to get this one when I saw it, but still wanted to make sure before hand. Its going to look great once I get it framed.
