Japanese book from ebay - military history or graduation?

This photo book looked interesting; I bid thinking the photos were set in the book but it turned out to be a printed photo book. Not sure what it is. Any suggestions?

Still looks to be a interesting looking book even with the photo printed onto the book.

With the help of my co-worker I have learned that the ship in the book is the Iwate and the Admiral is Naokuni Nomura. The scenes are of Tsingtao China.
