Default Japanese Cased Medal - Is this war related?

    Greetings all,
I have found this interesting medal/medallion. Appears to be from the 1960's??? I have not seen anything like it.
I thought there may be a military/veteran link as the star appears to be very similar to the one seen on these old parade hats.
Would love to know anything about it.
    The very best regards

No, it is dated 1986. The badge is the police badge.

    Front:
    表彰
    Commendation

    優良自動車運転者表彰記念
    昭和 61 年9月

    Excellent Automobile Driver Commendation Memorial
    September 1986

    Presented by:
    Aichi Prefecture Police Chief
    Aichi Prefecture Traffic Safety Association
Aichi Prefecture Safe Driving Management Conference Chairman

I see one at buyee.com auction that started at ¥1000 [$10.00] -- closed with no bids.

Guy, many thanks for your help, much appreciated.

It works really well as a paperweight! I wonder if that is what the string is for.

    All the best

    I agree mate.

Here is another that appears related. It is not marked to the underside. I can read 'Nagoya'.

    Nagoya Police?

    Best regards!

This is a "bunchin" 文珍 .... a calligrapher's paper weight. The string is to pick it up.

Here's a WW2-era IJN bunchin and some modern ones:
