Article about: Hi, can anyone provide some opinions on this blouse? Still havent any Japanese uniforms, so im hopping this one will be a good tunic. Thanks Cheers Nuno

    Hi, picked up this Japanese ground defense tunic, yesterday.
    Its named.
    But its a very small size, barely fit the manequin.

    I could be mistaken but i believe this is a maritime defense blouse, due to red star.
    Can any one provide period ranks for comparison?

    I always thought the star insignia was for a civilian employed by the army. btw, it looks like the tunic is named to a Murata.

    Hi Tom, thanks for the reply.
    Glad to have information about the name.

    I Believe these were also employed civilians, a civilian defense force.
    But my main doubt is the branch. I believe these were not army but for navy employed civilians.

    I think that there might be information in Nakata's book about the insignia: IMPERIAL JAPANESE ARMY & NAVY UNIFORMS & EQUIPMENT Vol. 1 It will be interesting to have definitive information on your tunic.

    This is definitely a wartime Gunzoku (civilian attached to the military) tunic, not postwar JSDF.
    Red star indicates "Other" branch (how helpful!).
