You have a ww2 Yosegaki hinomaru or as most know it as a good luck flag. I do not know how to translate the flag but a few guys here do and should be along shortly.
Good looking example.
Marty
Fortune favors the brave 644th td
Thanks for the quick reply, Marty, I'll wait, maybe they can help me translate it) Best regards, Tim
I am severly limited — iPhone right now. I can’t see to whom the flag was gifted, but it is signed by the principal of a Gunma Prefecture public school.
Top slogan is
祈武運長久
Ki Bu’un Chokyu
Prayers for continued luck in the fortunes of war
心勝、信念
Shin Katsu, Shin’Nen
Win the heart/spirit, faith/conviction

Thanks Guy, for the new interesting information! In your opinion, is this the original ww2 flag? Maybe you can still translate something?
Yes, original to the WWII period; pre-1945.
The flag is named to
岡部海次君
Okabe Kaiji-kun
Mr. Okabe Kaiji
It is located on the extreme right margin. The given name, Kaiji, could also be read as Umiji ... but Google isn’t always correct.
The school I mentioned is:
群馬県立桐生中学校
Gunma Ken-ritsu Kiryuu Chuu Gakkou
Gunma Prefectoral Public Kiryuu Middle School.
Kiryuu is a city name. I cannot read the principal’s signature; I thinl he also caligraphed the Four-Character Idiom above the school name:
皇澤無*
