if it is naval landing force helmet ,it might be worth trying to find the anchor and cherry blossom insignia badge to complete the exterior at least

If you rotate the liner image 90º to the right, you can barely see a name penciled in:

    ミ (mi)
    ヤ (ya)

    ハ (ha)

ミヤハ [Miyaha] in kanji would be

    --Guy

Can you tell me what this says? It is on the top of the scabbard of my grandfather's wakizahis? I'm just wondering if there was any corelation between the 2. Thanks

I've put off researching this because it looked too hard ....... but I've given it a go. I think it it Taka-aki, a surname.

    Takaaki
    Grand Dawn

What has thrown me is in the "aki" [akatsuki - dawn/daybreak] portion; as the artisan wrote it, the [sun] is on the right side instead of the left side.

Don't know if this is a correct reading ... but it sounds like a good.

Takaaki is a given name, but is normally written as 孝明 or 貴明. As an art name I can envision a change in kanji, but with the same sound (not unusual in Japan).
