G'day all
Here's a type I haven't seen before and is not in my ref books! Apparently 41 dated? unissued still with a paper tag in the pocket.
What's to me is unusual is the thick lining and the reinforced elbows & shoulders

I have top men working on this...
Top man-
That's a 代用綿製冬衣, or replacement cotton winter uniform, it was made to suppliment the supply of wool tunics for the large mobilization for the later stages of the China Incident as well as the Greater East Asian War on the whole. Not the elbow/shoulder padding similar to postwar commie tunics. You find these in mint condition pretty often because unlike the wool tunics they store really well. I have a #4 with bakelite buttons myself, I wear it around the house when it gets a bit chilly. I really need to find the trousers for it so I can go airsofting or something...

Here it is in use.
The issue tag isn't something you see every day so you should keep it.

Updated my library with "Heitai" by Agustin Saiz and I'm now much more informed Highly recommend this book
The jacket is far from being tropical but is a work jacket still used in combat going by the bayo tab and from the helpful info provided.
