Hi, these are my new purchases.
Nothing spectacular but with significant historical value.
Letters are still in the envelopes and according to seller they are pre war.
They are coming from the US, so will take a bit to get here.
Enjoy.
Cheers
Nuno

I had never seen Japanese envelopes before. Thanks for sharing!
Best,

Very interesting. Have they previously been opened or are they sealed? I'd hate to be in the dilemma of having unopened mail and deciding whether to open them or leave them in original condition
Very nice Nuno , i'd like to see some close ups of the post office frankings if possible , when you receive them

We are the Pilgrims , master, we shall go
Always a little further : it may be
Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow
Across that angry or that glimmering sea...
Very cool. It looks like one of the letters came from a sailor on the IJN cruiser Asama. That cruiser was used as a trainer and barracks in its later life, but it looks like it participated in a lot of historical actions soon after it was launched. Thanks for sharing!

Mostly to the Kanzaki 神崎 family, though I see one for Mukai Rintaro 向井林太郎. One envelope addresses Mr. Kanzaki as 参事会員 "sanshi kai-in" [Association Secretary].
Address is:
岡山県吉備郡新本村
神崎様
Okayama-ken, Kibi-gun, Shin Motomachi
Kanzaki sama
Mr. Kanzaki
Okayama Province, Kibi-District, New-Motomura town
Another Okayama location is
下道郡
Kadou-gun
That's about all I'm good for, please don't ask for a translation of the actual letters!!
Cheers!

Yokohama uses the old kanji 横濱; today you only see 横浜.
気付 = Kiotsuke = be careful/attention/ care of. Most often heard nowadays as ki-o-tsukete! meaning "Be careful!"; or KIOTSUKE! "Attention" [command form, much like the German achtung! or US "Atten--TION!]
Cheers--
