    It is dated 1939, I believe May. Rest of the Japanese says something to the effect of being under the Rear Admiral's flag.

    Hi,

    That's a very nice photo !

    This was taken in Jan, 1939 under a Rear Admiral flag.

    正月 (Shougatsu) - New Year Month (January).

    少将 (Shou Shou) - Rear Admiral
