Ah, posted an answer to the hanger question without seeing these last 2 replies. Mystery solved indeed, well done all! Maybe somewhere out there there's a red cross dirk with a railway scabbard then! Wonder how it happened, perhaps got mixed up when my uncles troop were comparing their memento's. Or the original got damaged and an exact match couldn't be found. As I said, it fits perfectly and the patina on the brass matches so well, even if the bamboo design doesn't.
