    Hello all,

I do not collect Japanese gear and know very little about Japanese militaria. However, this lot is for sale geographically close to me so I was planning to visit and check it out. Thought I would quickly post the items here first and see if any obvious flaws are noticeable:

"Authentic Japanese ww2 pow camp officer's sword/civil defense helmet and medals .
Sword is estimated at 110 yrs old has blood up the blade folded steel
Taken from Japanese officer at pow camp in Rangoon."

Asking price is 1k - What do you think, worth a visit or not?

Apologies for the photo quality, I know one can only speculate with such poor shots: it was the only one in the ad

Further more, the toes of the seller in the pic is usually also a bad sign

Good thing you checked here with the photo that was available. Better that than to have paid money before checking.

As to the sword ... no self respecting member of the IJA would have carried that sword unless it was the last blade available on planet Earth.

    Stu

Absolutely Stu. One thing I have learnt well here is to always check on the expensive stuff.

    My wife will be relieved

    Best regards,
    Chris
