I do not know why my post was "auto corrected" ... I had the problem when posting it ... corrected it. Now I see it has auto-corrected again.

Where my post says "double-decal 106" it should read D.D.-106.

I've had to put periods after the Ds because it auto-corrected again!

So, in military speak, it should be "Delta Delta One Zero Six"

    Sheesh!

The double decal auto correct refers to German WW2 helmets, single decal, double decal etc. It annoys us helmet geeks too at times

This is an aiakuchi mounting and may not have been worn by a samurai as katana were the only blades restri ted to the samurai class. I agree that the blade name was likely put their by the swordsmith

The blade appears to be healthy with no flaws. Blades with a nickname are fairly rare. I once had a late 17th century katana in military mounts that was swordsmith signed and the erverse of the nakago had the sword's name, which was the name of a famous sumo of the period. The blade was wide and stout and I could see where the inspiration came from. The writing was in the same hand as the swordsmith's.
