This one popped up a year or so ago and has bounced about a bit til I grabbed it. Not sure what theater this would have been used in. Alaska, China, Korea or even the Kuriles. Wish there was some provenance or at least info on others like it. I know of at least one other in this configuration. The star on this one is not black, but dark purple brown. I have a relic helmet in this color. Clearly painted during the war. You can see some of the brown paint on top of the white camo. Looks like someone took the star off to paint it white, and then put it on wrong, and decided not to mess with it any more. You can see it is imbedded well in the white paint, although it came loose.
I have found pictures of Japanese ski troops in the Kuriles with white painted helmets. If anyone has more info, I appreciate it!
