Japanese wwii helmet need some help!

Hello can anyone help me out with this helmet. I know nothing about it. Would like to know the model and value. The helmet is in super shape and i don't think it's been repainted or fooled with. Got it from a neighbor who's father was in the pacific during wwii. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks jeff

Theres something im not liking about this helmet, im not sure its a combat version, and i havent seen that type of liner , the shape of the helmet itself isnt what youd expect, but wait for more comments

I think it's a civil defense helmet with the star added.

It is a civilian defense helmet with an army star.
I do not have a clue as to value. I am sure some of the other folks could help you with that.

Log onto the web site Ingrid suggests, it will show you the price ranges, also look at the Anatomy of Japanese helmets in the same site, you can clearly see the difference regarding the overall appearance of the actual combat style as opposed to the civil defense version, also the prices for original combat versions far exceed the defense style

Here is my translation of the writing:

(Four large characters on the helmet lip are the man's name) OSHIMA Bunpei

(Helmet lip 8 characters - Address) Niwa District, Hotei Town, Somoto

(Label inside helmet)

(Right column) Aichi Prefecture Subsection

(Middle column) Niwa District, Hotei Town

(Left column) OSHIMA Bunpei

(Note: This locale is close to Nagoya City)
