Default Japanese WWII Navy Cap, Translation Help Needed

    Hi Guys,
I’m new to this forum. I just thought I would post this Japanese Navy cap I have had for some time. I was wondering if anyone could translate the characters on the cap.
The anchor patch at the front has been removed and it doesn’t have any manufacture labels on the inside of the cap.
Any help you be much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Michael

Welcome . I'm sure the experts will help you when they get the chance so don't feel like you're being ignored if you don't get a fast response . Personally I think it shows some nice age, but as far any other info I cannot say.

    Hi Michael,

    Translations as follow:

    芳川 - Yoshikawa (owner's name)

横志飛 - (IJN) Yokosuka Volunteer Air Group (For ages 14-16 years)

    四七四00 - 47400

I can't translate the rest of the brown colored characters.

The front cap badge is gone, but still a good IJN cap.

    Regards,
    Taka

    Hi Taka,
    Thank you very much!!
I have been wondering what the characters have said for a long time.
Do you any information of the Yokosuka Volunteer Air Group? Was it a cadet type unit?
    Thanks again,
    Michael

    You are welcome, Michael !

Another term for the IJN volunteer was called 予科練 - Yokaren. "Naval Aviator Preparatory Course Trainee"

Here is an English site for reference, hope it helps.

About "Yokaren" | Yokaren Peace Memorial Museum

The Collector's Guild (Just for reference, it will be a nice piece to go with your cap)

    Regards,
    Taka

What a great looking salty cap. I like the 'minimalistic' shape of these and always have (not that I can contribute anyting as to it being genuine, but it certainly looks good).

Thanks so much for the information and comments on my cap. It has a really interesting background to have the connection with that air training school.
something that i would have never have guessed. Thank you once again.
    Cheers,
    Michael
