    REGARDS AL

We are the Pilgrims , master, we shall go
Always a little further : it may be
Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow
Across that angry or that glimmering sea...

A nice example of a Joukyokujitsuki Japanese Army Battle Flag. These are much rarer than the Hinomaru, or 'Good Luck' flag and the ones I have seen are all of the coarser linen material (like your flag) whereas the Hinomaru are generally silk. The Navy version has the sun slightly offset to the left. Incidentally, these flags were flown with the right side attached to the pole, or very often a rifle.

The stains look like blood to me: very similar to the stains on the one I have.

    Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the little info ,didnt know the first about the material and names!

Yeah glad you all like it!

Got a little "Meatball flag" too the standard one made of the same material as this one and was said to be carried in the soldiers backpack, i dont know if each soldier had his own flag? or if it was just a "lucky thing" to carry with you.

I knew there was something wierd going on when i bought this one!!

The pictures he had on his ad about this flag didnt match the one i got.
Now he has a new ad out and on that ad it's MY flag that i bought, and it says that it was captured on Iwo Jima!
He must have messed up and sended me the wrong flag.

Gosh i guess im lucky since i always wanted a flag that really was on Iwo Jima and he managed to send me an identical flag but with another background and in a little better shape.

It was recovered by a senior US Marine officer who sold it to me many years ago.
