Ade and Steve this sword has such a great feel in your hand. The two NCO swords I have are cool but they just dont have the same feel as the Officer Sword. Gary

the markings read : jitsuyo (utility, practical use) shin (new) an (idea) tokkyo (patent). The w stamp is probably the manufacturers mark. The first character on the patent # side is dai (number, order) the last is ban(number). Jim

This is what I thought also....a patent #.

Great translation, very interesting to know about these "new idea" drags.

Translation of the drag is straight out of F&G's second book, I'm not good at translating, just know where to find the info! Jim
