Yesterday I was preparing a post asking if anyone had heard from Taka/Shindenkai -- but work interrupted (the nerve!) and I didn't post it. Good thing.

Takasan -- you've been sorely missed; welcome back.

    Taka-San,

May I ask how you know he was a 1st Mechanic? Is it from the Kanji on the top?

    Thanks

    Michael,

I had a go at the kanji on the WAF forum and could not figure out the top abbreviation. Since Taka-san tells us that it is for Mechanic, I looked that up in the Japanese dictionary:

    備士 ; seibi-shi

    So:

    Issei [guessing at the pronunciation]
    Mechanic 1st Class
