Dug this out, one of my first cups bought 2 years ago. It has that thicker feel near the middle, which I understand tends to be with older cups. A simple flag design with MAN KI for 'Service fulfillment'. But cannot get what the 4 kanji on the back mean. I can understand them individually, MAN SHIN HA RA, and Hara is a family name so the last 2 could be that.

I'm drawing the same blank as you.

満津波羅
What jumps out are the middle two kanji:
津波
Tsunami; tidal wave

But I get no hits when I string everything together. The only other hit was on Chinese Wiktionary

波羅
(obsolete, chiefly Nanzhao) tiger

Of course, 満 "man" could be an abbreviation for 満州 Manchuria.

Perhaps Nick will be able to opine if he is no longer confined to hospital or home bed.

By the way, the surname Hara would be 原

My first foray into sake cups. Shop owner claimed they were 70-80 years old. If legit, the gold rim, according to Nick's history, puts them pre-WWII.

Any help with translations would be GREATLY appreciated!
