Navy Rear Admiral Tomeo Kaku

Permanent Residence: Kumamto Prefecture

KIA: Showa 17 (1942) June 5th. (Age 49)

When Kaku was in Grade 8, he was greatly inspired by the Training Fleet that entered into the port of Ariake, thus he applied for a naval officer.
During the Battle of Midway, he was the captain of the aircraft carrier Hiryu (Japanese aircraft carrier Hiry), by inflicting heavy damage on enemy carrier 「Yorktown」(Yorktown-class aircraft carrier - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), while his ship was also damaged by intense attack. Kaku realized the situation and told the rest of his surviving crews to abandon ship. Kaku was last seen standing at the bridge of Hiryu along with Vice Admiral Tamon Yamaguchi and went down with the carrier.

Of Note: Rear Admiral Kaku was in the painting "Admiral' s Final Moment", the person at the right of Vice Admiral Tamon Yamaguchi.
