    Default Sword tang info needed

Ive been visisted by a collector friend who took his friend with him who has a swords blade with a tang signature.
His question: is this a real blade, and what is the meaning of the Characters on the blade.
The numbers on the sword do not match the standard arsenal markings and looking odd to me.
    Can anyone help?
    best regards,
    Ger

    Hi gerrit,

Based on the pics you've posted it's a fake. The numbers on the blade and hibaki never appear on signed Japanese swords, only on the NCO and cavalry saber which are machine made. That aside, what's visible is of such poor quality it's safe to assume it's from China.

You are right to be concerned Ger and i agree with Rod , three big red flags for me , first the numerals to blade and habaki shouldn't be seen and are wrong font for arsenal markings anyway , second the bad shape of the tang which also seems un naturally aged and lastly the kanji look to have been cut with a modern day electrical tool .

    Cheers mate

    Thank you Gents

unfortunate you all confirmed my concerns about the blade.
I have told him "carefully" that in my opinion it would be a chinese fake.
I will tell him the news, thanks all.
