Thoughts on this 'Japanese' flag

Article about: I saw this flag and would be intetested in your thoughts, it looks odd that the red color has run, is this one of the Seabee created souvenirs? This is the only picture I have. Thanks, Steve

    Seabee Special ... with pseudo-Japanese fake kanji.

    I agree, a Seabee special, however be aware that both the red coloring as well as the black kanji can run even on authentic examples.

    It's so bad it's good! Makes me smile. I'd buy it just for that reason.

    Although a fake, it is a genuine piece of history from the era. I saw one once where the creator was likely a Japanese American as the kanji was written properly. The mistake he made was dating the flag August 8th, 1942 instead of a Japanese Showa date.

    Thanks fo rthe responses, part form being pleased I managed to spot it, I agree these have a great story behind them, I'll add it to the watch list.
