Help me to understand grass writing

"Grass writing" is a cursive script, so called because of its flowing style not unlike tall grass waving in the wind.
The example below shows regular script, called "kaisho," for the words 草書 sou-sho [literally "grass writing"], followed by the same kanji in "grass writing."
Here's a short and quick primer explaining three styles of calligraphy .... there are more styles! Although it says "Japanese calligraphy," the styles were borrowed from China.
Wiki shows links to five styles.
