The first tag says Artillery 3 of 2 (2nd platoon 3rd squad), Yamada (Yoshi) Able Seaman. Part of his first name in brackets means there was another Yamada in the unit, so the way he wrote is like writing "J. Smith".

Second label says 1938 April issue from Kure Depot, Size 3, Mountain Artillery 2nd Company, Yoshio Yamada
