Type 98 Shingunto assistance
Article about: I'm looking at adding a type 98 shin gunto to my collection and was wanting further assistance. I've spoken to Bruce about it and I'm curious if these two are handmade or machine made blades

平田兼隆 Kanetaka Hirata was the name of the Smith, real name being Kaname Hirata.

It is Toki (土岐). It's not strange that a Seki sword has a name Toki on it. Probably to commemorate Toki family. Toki Yorinari (1502–1582) was a Daimyo of Mino.

I agree. I had simply noticed that the first blade on this post hadn’t been translated, so I updated the thread.
