    Hi,

Late war bevo 2nd class private collar tabs. Good that you have one left side and one right side tab!

    Cheers mate,
Late war? These are new to me, is it the colour or pattern?
Lucky they are a left and a right, I wasn't even thinking about it.
My trader friend gave them to me for free.
He said pick anything up to $25 as a Cherry on top.
I buy quite a bit from him.

    Thanks

    Welcome!

They're Type 3 cotton machine woven, for enlisted the earlier Type 98 ones were wool and more substantial.

    Cool.
Was that because of improvements or shortages?
Now I need to find some more.

    Cheers,

Definitely cheaper and faster to make than the earlier Type 98 tabs.

There really isn't much in the English literature on how they produced them or why the changes but it's useful to be able to recognize the different 'Types' if just for interests sake.

    Thanks Rod,

It's great having someone who knows their stuff and is willing to pass on valuable information to others!
Like any relic there's always a story behind them and how they came to be.
It's living history in the palm of your hand.
Now I know of the different types I will be looking to get a pair of early war collar tabs.
    Do you have any?
