    Default WWII Japanese? Katana scabbard?

    Hey guys,

I saw this come up at Auction and it kind of has a Japanese feel to it??
The rag around the middle looks very Japanese.
I'm not sure if it's a scabbard or a toy?
    80.5cm long.
It really made me curious and I couldn't stop thinking about.
    Anyone know what it is?
Anything about it give it away or is it just a hodge-podge of bits and bobs?
It's part of a military estate sale, mixed with bayonets etc...

If it draws a blank, enjoy it for what it is.....
    I just like it.
Reminds me of things I used to make as a kid.

Actually....looks like a hodge podge of stuff put together to hold some type of locally hand made blade...but just my thoughts

    ha ha.
Its with some Japanese bayonets and I was thinking it was a "bring home" souvenir?
    It's going for $45NZD, 23 pounds.
Could've been some Japanese kids pretend play sword with scabbard, just don't know.
Why do I like strange things??
    Anything of Japanese on it?
Maybe I should just buy the damn thing?

I'm out of ideas...and will be the first to say I'm a novice with Katanas and rely on the guys here to vet mine.

The wood part could be (I have no idea really) the inside of a Katana scabbard, the rings don't look Japanese to me and the metal tip looks handmade or cut down from a bayonet scabbard...

It just reminds me of locally made items I've seen where indigenous tribes use anything to make something. No rhyme or reason to my thoughts...that's all they are.

    But it looks interesting

To me it looks like native work made from what could of been parts of a Japanese military saya and other parts from who knows where. For me, it is junk and not worth investing anything in.

As Bob said a pile of junk.

    As I would say a pile $hit.

Looks like it has been found in the woods, or been used as a hunting/fishing knife
