Yet another WW2 Katana question

Hi Folks, I did a lot of digging and research on this before posting. Someone is offering me this katana for sale, I'm pretty sure its fake. He claims his dad brought it back from the pacific in the war.

The things that are red flags to me are the hamon is absent but also there is a lot of folded grain showing which makes me thinks its a chinese acid etch blade. There is also markings on the blade itself rather than just the tang, can anyone translate the markings?

Hi ChristopherC, everything about that sword is red flag to me, the tsuka seems to be sqaure instead of round, oval shape, the rayskin wil be something plastic instead of a beautiful design of different big and smal parts and the wrapping of the tsukamaki is just awfull and about the blade itself , is what you mentioned.

Steve hit the nail on the head. The writing on the blade is very crude and not of the quality of a Japanese carver. Fake acid etched blade. A fake from China without a doubt.
