Female Italian Navy sergentessa maggiore di marina

Hello all,

Todays find in Berlin. Did Italy have females in the Navy?
Does any of our Italian members have any idea if this woman can be properly identified?
There is her full name on the photo. I read Lucina Di Michiel.
The rank is obviois too Sergentessa maggiore di marina
The back side inscription is dedication to her friend?
I kind of undersrand the text, but would be great if some one flient could translate properly.

Now thats a pretty good question..
We had female service especially during the RSI , as women served as auxiliary and not on fighting units, but thats pretty unique if true i would say..
She was even on submarine service from the badge upon the ribbon's bar?
I cant even immaging it..
Maybe the lady of that pictures has wore his boyfriend's uniform as a funny reminder?

Dedication on backside simply says:
As perennial "memento" of your friend, Navy sgt major "Lucina Di Michiel.
Taken on November 1942.

I was hoping to uncover proof of still unknown Italian all-female Navy unit...
