italian pin: just looking for some info

on the advicefrom a forum member i am posting this pin here in hopes to find out a bit more about it. it has been tenetively id'd as "italian" i know not much to go on, but thats why i'm posting it here.
any info on maker, organization/unit that would have used it and roundabout valuation would be greatfully accepted
