Italian WWII map case?

Hi guys,

Earlier I was spending even more money that I don't have, and I picked this thing up cheap. What is it exactly? It was advertised as an Italian WWII map case but I'm not sure why the auction house would think that.

Not sure what it is... Italian leather gear is usually made of grigioverde (gray-green) leather.

Ah, I remember that color. It's not a very pretty one. lol

I got this case for $20. I bought it to give to one of my best friends as a Christmas present anyway. I just don't know what country it belonged to!

Any ideas on this? I was doing some research and I think it might actually be Japanese.

It certainly has a Japanese look to it but i don't think it is , are there any markings internally or on the inside of the flap ?
